The edition for retailers
The Retail Edition holds the points. Your checkout spends them.
A loyalty programme is an economy before it is a feature. This page starts with what it costs you, because that is the first question a loyalty manager asks and the last one most vendors answer.
Start here
The economy, before the features.
Points are a liability on your balance sheet from the moment you grant them. The edition shows that number rather than hiding it.
What a member earns
What a member spends
Outstanding liability
Unspent points, valued at your own burn rate, as one figure
Every number above is a setting you choose. We publish no defaults, because an earn rate and an expiry period are decisions about your margin, and we settle them with you when we configure the edition for your catalogue.
The second question
Retail tiers have to fall as well as rise.
A retail tier is earned inside a window and lost when the window closes, which a level in most loyalty schemes is not. The edition holds a rule for the fall as well as one for the climb, because a tier that can only rise stops meaning anything in about two years.
- Tier one Entry, from the first purchase Free delivery over a threshold you set.
- Tier two Reached on spend inside twelve months Early access to a sale, and a higher earn rate.
- Tier three Reached on spend and on frequency A named contact, and returns without a fee.
- The fall The window closes and the member drops one tier Warned before it happens, never after, because a silent downgrade costs you the member rather than the tier.
The credit, end to end
Vivalto grants it. Your checkout spends it.
The split is the same one Vivalto holds in every edition. Vivalto keeps the logic, the counters and the record, and the system that holds the money is the system that moves it.
- Granted. Vivalto turns the points into a credit and writes it to the member record.
- Counted. Vivalto holds the conditions, so a credit that may not pay for a gift card knows that about itself.
- Applied. Your commerce platform reduces the basket and takes the payment. Vivalto never touches the money.
- Recorded. The grant and the spend both land against the member, which is what makes the liability figure above possible.
Where it sits
Behind the commerce platform you already run.
You replace nothing. The edition reads orders from your commerce platform and hands a credit back to it.
ONLINE
Your web store
Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, SAP Commerce or your own build.
IN STORE
Your till
The same member record, so a purchase in a shop earns the same points.
MESSAGING
Your email and messaging tools
Vivalto decides who and when, and your existing sender does the sending.
THE FIRST PIECE OF WORK
The connector to your platform
We build the link to whichever of these you run, with your team, and it is the first thing we build.
What a retailer asks us
The four questions we answer first.
What does the liability look like on our balance sheet
Unspent points valued at your burn rate, as one figure, on any date you pick. We go through the calculation with you on the first call, and the figure itself appears once the edition is configured against your own catalogue.
Can a reward be earned on a product line rather than on a total
Yes. That is the condition engine with a different thing counted. A basket condition and a category condition are the same shape as any other condition the engine watches, so a line, a category and a total are all valid targets.
Is a member online the same member in the shop
One record per member is how the engine is built. The work in this edition is matching the till to that record, and we do that with your team.
How long does it take to go live
The connector to your commerce platform is the work, and its length depends on your catalogue, your till and the platform itself. We scope it against those three before we put a number on it, because a date given without them is a guess dressed up as a plan.
Bring us your earn rate and your burn rate.
Thirty minutes, on your own numbers. Tell us what you sell, how your programme works today and which commerce platform you run, and we will show you the liability figure taking shape.
